How to stay cool while working during a heatwave?

With temperature rising above 30C in some parts of the United Kingdom as the country moves into autumn, it has brought a lot of distress and discomfort to everyone specifically, employees who need to stay focused to finish their job. Still, amid rising temperatures, Britons are advised to take necessary precautions when going outdoors especially as prolonged exposure is expected due to social distancing. As the majority of companies are forced to implement a work from home policy to avoid the spread of the virus, people are left with no choice but to endure the heat at home for AC available in offices is not easily accessible in homes. 

As the country experienced a heatwave; In this article, we will provide some useful tips you can do to stay cool even during heatwaves: 

Avoid Caffeine

  • As much as we love coffee it is helpful to avoid drinking it during the season as it can raise body temperature, which is not good if you are already feeling hot. You are encouraged to drink plenty of water and make sure you stay hydrated all throughout the day. 

Cold press your neck

  • You can easily target the part of the brain that senses and regulates body temperature if you put a cold flannel against your neck. Doing this will help you feel better quickly. In addition to this, you can find yourself a comfortable place to relax yourself while you place the cold flannel against your neck.

Turn-off heat generating objects

  • Phone chargers and unnecessary lights (including lamps) are common sources of unwanted heat and we don’t want that adding an extra burden. These electronics also generate heat, and can make you feel even hotter. Thus, unplug or turn it off when not needed. Plus, it also saves electricity costs too.
