Publicity for SMEs
All businesses want to be known. They want to be in the forefront of the minds of their customers. If you think of soft drinks, you probably think of Coke. If you think of fast cars, you probably think of Ferrari. If you are considering a new phone, you will think of Samsung or Apple. How can you get your business to dominate the sector that you are in to such an extent?
SMEs (small and medium-sized enterprises) accounted for 99.9% of the business population (5.9 million businesses) at the beginning of 2019 in the United Kingdom. With such a big percentage in the economy, how familiar are you with SMEs in the UK? How can you make your brand stand out in a crowded market place?
If you are a startup or an SME, there are affordable ways to boost your brand. What if you can do it without a large marketing spend?
Earn awards
Awards are generally free to enter, they are well marketed and promoted within the industries that they support, they have a large network, and they have a large following. Use Award events to promote your business. An award, even a local one, can give you a lot of free marketing opportunities, and something to shout about. If you meet the requirements and sign your business up, you get free marketing. It doesn’t matter if you win or lose, you will get recognition.
Attract people
How do you publicise your business by attracting people to it? As an owner, you can set up meetings with notable individuals or potential stakeholders and just simply let them know what you are doing. Familiarize them with your product and ask them if there’s anything they would like to do. Talking about your interest is free but having influencers, or other people interested in your brand has a small cost that can be seen as a big investment.
Philanthropy
This can be a win-win situation for the community and your business in a way that you get your business publicized for doing good deeds. To note that being philanthropic doesn’t always include money, because you can give help in other ways like offering help in beach cleanup, community outreach, or being a volunteer of your chosen advocacy. Charity work can be great advertising for your business, and a great networking opportunity.
