- Maisonettes – these are functionally flats occupying at least two storeys within a larger building, yet with their own dedicated entry to the gardens or road, distinguishing them from two-story flats accessed solely from an internal hall. Maisonettes can be very big if they are part of a large historical building, and can even be expensive properties.
