Freelance Quick Work Break Ideas

Freelancing gives you more freedom, that much is true, but if you do not work, you do not get paid. There is no sick pay, holiday pay, time off pay, or any luxuries. If you are someone who likes to work, then freelancing is a good option, but there are some problems with it.

Assuming you can take as much time off as you’d like is a common myth about the freelancing lifestyle. The lack of regular hours makes it easy to burn yourself out, which is something that most people fail to consider. While it may seem overwhelming to spend the entire day at your workstation, there are times when taking a break is the optimal way to boost your performance.

Procrastination is not productive, but then burning yourself out is also not productive, so there has to be a balance found. Here are some ideas for turning your quick break times into a place to detach and recharge before facing reality.

  • Play a quick podcast

Start listening to a few podcasts with episodes that are less than 15 minutes long. In this manner, you complete it and avoid being drawn into a break that lasts longer than you planned.

  • Have a Good Snack

Healthy snacks are another way to maximise break times. Taking care of yourself and your business by maintaining a healthy lifestyle is a win-win. Nutrition is a part of this. And if you enjoy cooking, or you like different foods, this can be a fun time too.

  • Enjoy some fresh air

Get some fresh air away from the desk and into the open air. Taking a break from work might be as simple as relocating to a new location. If there is a park close to your home, taking a casual stroll there is not only a great way to soothe stress but also to maintain your health, as nature is the best setting you could go for.

  • Hang out with friends/family

Being a freelancer can be a solitary profession if you don’t make an effort to build relationships with others, so it’s always nice to have a friendly conversation with someone. If you’re stressed or need a break, call a friend or your family.

  • Do some household chores

If you don’t want to waste your lunch hour napping, you could use it to get some adulting stuff like cleaning done. Doing so will not only make your surroundings cleaner, brighter, and more resting but will also help you feel productive, clear, and driven for the remainder of the day.
